Volunteer

 The Vanarsdale Saloon from 1904.
The Saloon was located at either 206 or 208 W. Main in the Opera House Block.
​Vanarsdale's specialty was "Old Whiskey drawn from the Wood."

Training is provided as needed for all volunteer positions.

Schedules are flexible, volunteer a little or a lot. 
The following is a list of the most needed volunteer positions. 
Other duties can be tailored to meet your interests as well.

Docent – (Tour Guides) docents provide historical information to visitors as they tour the Museum.  This may be in the form of a scheduled tour or to walk-in visitors. Minimum one shift (3 hours) every 6 weeks

Clerical/Office Assistant – Volunteers provide a variety of duties, including answering the phone, assisting with filing, copy work, scanning photographs, historical research, large mailings and other office related activities.  (Schedule to be individually determined between volunteer and Executive Director)

Accessioning Volunteer – Volunteers assist with processing the artifact donations made to the Museum.  The Accessioning Committee meets each Thursday from 10:00-1:00 pm.  (Volunteers work a minimum of one time per month but many volunteers work every Thursday.)

Special Events Volunteer- (Fundraisers, Parades, Other) Volunteers work on an as needed basis.  Chairpersons from each event call volunteers to check on interest and availability. These events including our table at Expo, Summer Concerts, and Girls Night Out events.


Education Volunteer- Volunteers assist in programs and tours given to elementary students. Education volunteers are contacted when a teacher signs up for a program. Fall and late spring are the most common times. Education volunteers are asked to volunteer a minimum of twice a year.

Greeter- Welcome visitors to the Museum during a scheduled work shift.
